We made it through the sweltering month of July and it looks like we are in store for some more scorching days for August! Below is BSP’s August email; be sure to stay well hydrated throughout these hot summer days.

1. Boulder Sports Performance’s “featured” race for the month of August is the Pearl Street Mile taking place on Thursday, August 11, 2011 on 14th Street and Pearl St. Mall. This is the "signature event" of the Boulder Road Race Series and is a fantastic community event. Many of the area's top runners show up to test their speed on this very fast one mile course. Come out to participate OR cheer on your fellow endurance friends.

2. Boulder Sports Performance’s August Happy Hour has been tentatively set for the last Friday in August the 26th. BSP is taking suggestions for it monthly Happy Hour location. Suggestions are welcomed (info@bouldersportsperformance.com) for some relaxation and good times.

3. AGAIN…Boulder Sports Performance’s Run Group has had a growing number of people participating in our "Mondays at Magnolia Rd. Run". This humbling, uphill, high-altitude run (which starts over 8,000 ft.) will work your HEART, LUNGS, and LEGS! Feel free to run, bike, hike, or walk any distance (out and back) that will provide a hard and rewarding workout. BSP will meet at the Justice Center Parking Lot in Boulder, on 6th and Canyon, every Monday (excluding Monday, July 4th) at 4:45PM SHARP to carpool. Make sure to bring a towel for a cool, refreshing soak in the Boulder Creek afterwards.

During the summer and beginning of fall months, Boulder Sports Performance has determined "set" times for its weekly trainings. PLEASE note the days & times that have been determined, HOWEVER, continue to check Boulder Sports Performance's Meetup for locations, cancellations AND to RSVP (as it makes it easier to have an accurate count of who's coming). The following is the Boulder Sports Performance training schedule for the month of August:

Boulder Sports Performance's Weekly Updates

1. As the summer progresses, BSP wants to take this opportunity to reiterate "why" YOU choose to participate in Boulder Sports Performance training: YES...Boulder Sports Performance is a very intense training, YES...Tony does like to yell, YES...it hurts while you're doing the work but the effects afterwards feel great. However, each and every one of you participate because you want to challenge yourself not only physically but mentally as well; giving 100% each and every time.

Although most of you are not striving to be an "elite" athlete, nor do some of you plan to compete in any type of race; the sole purpose for all is to get a killer workout because it makes you feel great. By deviating from what the collective goal of the group is, (whether its excessive talking, complaining/whining, OR not giving it your "all") brings the level of intensity down. Let's stayed focused, keep on doing what you are doing and continue the hard work.

2. The time to socialize and have fun is at Boulder Sports Performance's monthly Happy Hour. SOOOO...BSP has already been making plans for June's Happy Hour. Mark your calendars for Friday, June 24 and we'll keep the location under wraps until BSP has them finalized.

3. Last Monday Boulder Sports Performance had an awesome time on Magnolia Road. We hope that more of you will show up this week. BSP will meet at the Justice Center Parking Lot in Boulder (6th and Canyon, east side of 6th street) this Monday at 4:45PM SHARP to carpool! Or meet at Magnolia Road just before the 5 mile marker if you cannot meet at the Justice Center. SEE YOU THERE!!

The following is the Boulder Sports Performance training schedule for this coming week. PLEASE make note of the following days, times and locations! All Boulder Sports Performance Members are requested to RSVP through Meetup.com as it makes it easier to have an accurate count of who's coming:

~Wednesday, Boulder High School at 6:00PM (approx. 75 minutes including the 10 min. warm-up),
~Saturday, Folsom Hill Training at 10:00AM (approx. 60 to 75 minutes including the 10 min. warm-up).

Have a wonderful week from the Boulder Sports Performance Team.

Boulder Sports Performance's Weekly Updates

1. A HUGE congratulations goes out to all those BSP Members, friends, family and others that participated in this year's BolderBoulder. The weather was ideal, the course change brought excitement to the runners and everyone had a great time. Boulder Sports Performance and BSP Run Group looks forward to next year's race and the upcoming BSP Events for the rest of 2011 (i.e. Rimrock Marathon).

2. Back by popular demand (as it has been currently asked now that the weather has gotten better) is the Magnolia Road run; THIS Monday, June 6th. This humbling, uphill, high-altitude run (which starts over 8,000 ft.) will work your HEART, LUNGS, and LEGS! This is exactly why this road is so popular with professional athletes in training.
The road extends from Boulder Canyon up to Peak to Peak Highway (7.5 miles). You do not have to run the entire 15 miles (up and back) nor do you even have to run!!! Feel free to bike, hike, or walk any distance, out and back, that provides a hard and rewarding workout for you.

BSP will meet at the Justice Center Parking Lot in Boulder (6th and Canyon, east side of 6th street) at 4:45PMSHARP!

~Saturday, Folsom Hill Training at 10:00AM (approx. 60 to 75 minutes including the 10 min. warm-up).

Have a wonderful week from the Boulder Sports Performance Team.

Boulder Sports Performance's Weekly Updates

1. Memorial Day is tomorrow and Boulder prepares itself for one of the biggest events of the year: The BolderBoulder. Boulder Sports Performance will have numerous members participating tomorrow to run the nation's Biggest 10K. As with last year, BSP Members will plan on meeting after the race to watch the elite field run and the post-BB Memorial Day festivities. Boulder Sports Performance will meet in section 208 of Folsom Field, which is located at the south end of the stadium just under the scoreboard. Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

2. As June is closely approaching and the springtime weather is turning into summer, this is a perfect time to re-evaulate those goals. Having a friend to train with, a log book, or a combination of both will hold you accountable. Boulder Sports Performance's training is also a good way, at the very minimum, to get a high-caloric, leg strengthening session in once or twice a week. BSP looks forward to seeing you at the trainings coming up.

Also, be on the lookout for information containing the BolderBoulder pre-race party (mostly likely the Friday before the race).

2. Boulder Sports Performance's new massage therapist, Tracy Lucas, has provided some information below, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
"Many athletes consider sports massage an essential part of their training & recovery routine. Massage assists athletes in their training regimen by improving performance, preventing injury & recovering faster. Other benefits include reducing muscle stiffness, increasing circulation and promoting relaxation.
As an athlete or someone training on a regular basis, it is best to get regular massages as maintenance between workouts, in preparation for a race and to decrease recovery time post race. During race season, I recommend a regular routine of at least 2 massages/month. As a member of Boulder Sports Performance, you get a discount on your first session and a special package deal!

First Session:
$45 – 60 min$70 – 90 min
