This week I planned my training for the Derby Festival half-marathon that I'll do with my brothers April 24. Decided to go with an intermediate program http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/inter.htm by Hal Higdon. I like the way this program builds the long run by a mile each week and includes training at the track. I'll start really following it in Feb, but will rearrange the days to fit my schedule. He emphasizes also stretching, which I usually neglect.
I missed spin/run on Friday since I was x-c skiing. The skiing was great, and I felt very fit heading up to Blue Ridge Peak (Snow Mountain Ranch) on my old woodies.
Saturday Rick and I went on our 8 mile Sanitas loop. The route down was icey and that made me slow and anxious. Sunday went up to Magnolia with BSP fast group--Nicole, Dan and Gustavo. I felt tired and didn't want them to have to wait for me, so just went out two miles and turned around.
Today, I went to the track to see how fast I can run a 1/4 mile. My goal is 2.02, but I was 2.04, 2.05, 2.06, 2.05, 2.07. I hope I can get faster, but am not sure. It's disappointing to be as slow as I am. Bill and Linda from 24run group came with me to the track and that was great!
I found a refurbished garmin 405 like I had before my backpack was stolen, so now I can keep track of time, distance and heart rate. --kate readio
