Endurance Training & Acupuncture

Some IMPORTANT information from one of Boulder Sports Performance sponsors, Premier Acupuncture:
"In Colorado, we have the opportunity to train & enjoy outdoor sports all year long. Some say Boulder is one of the nations athletic meccas, & I have to agree. In my practice I see individuals of all ages: some in college sports, others who have been athletic for 30 years, & inspirational ones who are 58 and training for their 1st Triathlon ever. Each of these athletes usually has their own training plan, nutritional needs, & often professional guidance to get them to their goals safely.
One thing I have noticed while working with the diverse & motivated group at Boulder Sports Performance is that regardless of the age, fitness level, or the goal difficulty, each athlete across the board has to deal with the added issue that living at dry altitude which adds to their training challenges.
It is understood by most that with any exercise you are loosing fluids & need to be diligent to constantly replace them. However with hard endurance training the loss is even more significant & difficult to replace sufficiently for some. Add to that the very dry air that we have up here at 5230 ft in elevation & you can begin to see what effect that can take on one’s overall hydration & more directly on your lungs.
Sheng Mai San (Generate the Pulse Powder) is a very simple but effective formula. This formula is used to increase Qi & lung fluids in order to enhance breathing. Providing that this formula matches the athletes unique personal pattern, if used regularly it can help to reduce excess sweating, chronic cough, thirst, dry mouth, shortness of breath & insomnia. It is even used sometimes for people undergoing cancer treatments to counteract the harsh drying effects of chemotherapy.
As we have chosen to live in this beautiful area & athletically revel in it’s beauty, we remember that nothing comes without a cost. Living up in this dry altitude & enjoying endurance sports does take it’s toll on our bodies. However it is reassuring that with Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine we have such dynamic & natural tools at our disposal to counter act the negatives & to help bring us to our goals."
